The Carbon Donut 1.0 launch campaign organised together with Ilmatar and Gold&Green Foods® was a success resulting in nearly 5000 app downloads and 52 tonnes of CO2-eq saved. The results indicate that there is a demand for tools like Carbon Donut that help consumers understand and reduce their personal emissions.
Spark Sustainability launched the 1.0 version of the Carbon Donut app together with sustainability pioneers Ilmatar and Gold&Green Foods® on May 10th. The launch kick-started a six-week marketing campaign that reached 800 000 people and resulted in nearly 5000 app downloads and 52 tonnes of CO2-eq saved.
“We are excited to see thousands of people finding Carbon Donut helpful in taking climate action! The more users we have, the more emissions we can help mitigate. It also helps us develop Carbon Donut further and ensure that everyone can find tips that fit their lifestyle”, says Product Owner Anna Eriksson.
Carbon Donut 1.0 is a carbon calculator, knowledge bank, climate action tracker and marketplace for emission-reducing solutions. By calculating their personal lifestyle emissions, users get climate action tips tailored to their lifestyle and see which climate actions have the biggest impact with the lowest effort for them personally.
During the marketing campaign, eight brilliant social media influencers produced inspiring content about taking climate action and how the app can support it — and with great results.
“It was fun to follow how the app was received and used by the social media influencers we collaborated with and their followers. It seems clear that the topic resonates and people are interested in learning about new ways to reduce their emissions”, says Chief Communications Officer Linda Koskinen.
Emission-reducing services and products play a key role in climate change mitigation as they offer a concrete and immediate way to reduce everyday emissions. During the launch campaign, climate-smart companies from different fields came together as Ilmatar and Gold&Green Foods® joined Spark Sustainability in spreading knowledge about climate action and emission-reducing products and services to a wider audience. In addition to the launch partners’ solutions, Carbon Donut currently features the emission-mitigating services and products of around 20 companies, with more being added every week.
“The more individuals we can inspire to try out new, emission-mitigating services, the more emissions are saved. Thus, we’re working to increase the number of companies in the app together with our user base and are welcoming new ones throughout the year”, says Eriksson.
