In October, Spark Sustainability kicked off a 6-month Climate Campaign for the Institution for Art and Culture at the Novia University of Applied Science to engage employees in their climate work, reduce their carbon footprint and reach climate goals.
The Climate Campaign was kicked off by calculating the institution’s carbon footprint to bring awareness of the current impact and use that as a starting point. Now, the exciting part has started: the team’s climate work has been kicked off with the help of the Carbon Donut app.
The collaboration between Novia and Spark Sustainability has three goals:
Spark Sustainability's educational climate app, Carbon Donut, is a vital part of the campaign that uses gamification methods to encourage learning and climate action. An essential part of the campaign is challenging the team with engaging climate challenges. The progress and impact of the Climate Campaign are tracked through monthly reports, demonstrating the results of the 50-head personnel. Each employee can follow their progress in the app and compete with their colleagues through a leaderboard.
The kick-off sparked an exciting conversation. So far, 140 climate actions have been completed through the Carbon Donut app, and 590 kg CO2-eq saved (this corresponds to 3880 km driven by car). Over the 6-month campaign, different sustainability themes will be covered, of which mobility is the first theme.
With Spark Sustainability's new offering, Climate Campaigns for organisations, the long-term goal is to develop a sustainability culture for companies where climate-conscious decisions are an effortless part of daily work and where employees can generate ideas for reducing emissions at work. Ultimately, this will improve the organisation’s competitive advantage and strengthen the employer brand.
"The campaign aims to increase the understanding of how different choices affect the climate and to what extent, both at work and in our private lives. It is an opportunity to get inspired and learn how you can reduce your and your organisation's carbon footprint - and at the same time, improve your quality of life! We will be able to see quantifiable changes in the organisations carbon footprint in the following 6-months. As a bonus, the campaign will help increase the faculty's climate competence - we see this as an opportunity for many organisations looking for a competence boost." says Anna Eriksson, CEO of Spark Sustainability.
The Climate Campaign for Novia is an example of Spark Sustainability’s new B2B offering for businesses, which you can read more about here. Spark Sustainability uses data on climate emissions to engage employees, partners and customers in our partners' climate work. We allow employees to contribute to their organisation's climate work in their workplace and offer digital tools highlighting the benefits of climate-smart products.
