Earth Hour, an annual event organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on the last Saturday of March, is a chance for companies to raise awareness and show commitment to addressing environmental issues. This year, Spark Sustainability offers companies a turn-key Earth Hour campaign making it easy for companies to participate and use it as a starting point for year-round climate action. Join us for Earth Hour and make a difference!
During Earth Hour, lights are turned off for one hour all around the globe to reduce energy consumption and raise awareness about protecting the planet. More than anything, it's a symbolic gesture of solidarity among people worldwide. This year, Spark Sustainability aims to bring more dimension to the usual Earth Hour by providing companies a ready two-week campaign that educates employees inspires them to climate actions all year around - beyond shutting down lights for an hour.
Based on our discussions with +50 companies last year, it became clear that there's a need to improve the climate competence of employees, but it needs to be done in an engaging way that requires little time or human resources. At the same time, many companies put a lot of effort into producing content around Earth Hour for a short-lived engagement.
In addition, environmental sustainability is good business: appr. $44 trillion of economic value generation is moderately or highly dependent on nature (WWF).

From a company's perspective, Earth Hour is important because it provides an opportunity to demonstrate corporate responsibility both externally and internally - and a moment dedicated to encouraging employees to reflect on their environmental impact.
This year Spark Sustainability offers a 2-week turn-key campaign that culminates in Earth Hour on March 25, 2023. The campaign includes inspiring, informative and engaging content related to your positive impact journey and Earth Hour, a team challenge that will report your team’s impact during the campaign, access to our Carbon Donut app, and an online webinar to kick off the campaign and get your employees listening.
The Earth Hour campaign educates employees on how to save emissions, both in a work environment and at home, and encourages them to participate in Earth Hour.
Participating in Earth Hour shows customers, employees, and other stakeholders that the company is committed to positively impacting the environment. Additionally, it serves as a reminder that businesses have an essential role to play in helping to address the global climate crisis.
Additionally, the campaign will provide specific tips and resources to employees on reducing their energy consumption and making a difference in their personal lives. This could include information on transportation and commuting, recycling, eating mindfully, technology, using renewable energy, energy-efficient light bulbs, insulation, and other energy-saving practices.
At the end of the campaign you will get a report with the results and a communication package that can be used in internal and external communication.
